There must be a radical shift in education, but when will this finally happen?
Teachers must be willing to challenge the status quo in order to see the change. Educators are at the frontlines which can cause the most disruption and impact.
Our Innovation Plan will challenge what we do and how we do it. Our approach is to im
plement blended learning to cause these impactful changes within our organization in order to cause a big change. My WHY is to provide all students equitable access to education in order to create meaningful learning paths tailored to their needs. Why, because it is their right regardless of their socioeconomic status. All students have a right to a chance at an education future that suits their needs and dreams.
The first time I viewed Sir Ken Robinsons' speech, Bring on the learning revelution the last 30 seconds made the biggest impact on me, "tread lightly because everyday children spread their dreams beneath our feet" (Robinson, 2010). I have always made it a point to build relationships with my students and earn their trust, in order for the learning to happne, but now I make sure to be mindful of their dreams.
I must be vigilant and tread lightly because I can easily diminish a student's dreams and passions. My job is to enrich, tap into their talents, and steer them into directions of inquiry and wonder. With every passing year I work in an educational setting the more I want to revolt and advocate louder and louder because every child has a right to what they need.
