Resources and Digital Environments

Introduction

This course provided us with the guidance to showcase our knowledge about blended learning with adaptive digital programs to the masses. In our assignments such as the Publication Article and Media Project, we knew our targeted audience would need to feel the urgency to feel connected in order to spark their interest and further invest in learning and implementing blended learning.

During the 2021-2022 school year we piloted blended learning with our Dyslexia students and a 4th-grade class and integrated two new adaptive digital programs. The goal and focus were to increase student engagement and motivation in order to create personalized learning opportunities in a student-centered classroom. We implemented a blended learning environment to provide our students with an equitable learning environment to help close academic gaps caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.  Students transformed their mindset, became invested in their own learning, and were motivated to set and achieve academic goals.

Lexia CORE 5 and I-ready both provided students with personalized literacy instruction while also providing students the choice, ownership of path, and pace.

By incorporating adaptive learning programs, such as Lexia CORE 5 and i-Ready, in our innovation plan, Blended Learning: Personalizing the Future of Education, harnessed the power of technology in order to provide personalized instruction and close academic gaps.

Our innovation plan first focuses on implementing blended learning in our dyslexia lab and a 4th-grade classroom. During the 2021-2022 school year, we began incorporating a station rotation blended learning model that incorporated two adaptive learning platforms, Lexia Core5 and iReady.

Blended learning has revolutionized the traditional classroom by harnessing the power of technology. By implementing adaptive digital programs within a blended learning environment, educators can move away from the one size fits all approach and move toward a student-centered classroom that enhances and personalizes learning by giving students the power to pause, rewind, or fast-forward instruction based on their unique needs.

We began implementing a station-rotation blended learning model during the 2021-2022 school year with the goal of creating personalized learning opportunities for our 4th grade and Dyslexia students. .

After a two and half years of disruption due to Covid-19, an increased learning gap, and a loss of motivation among our students, we knew now was the time to implement a strategic plan that placed students first with equitable learning. Our challenge was to give students choice, ownership, and voice through authentic learning opportunities (COVA). We felt passionate about breaking away from the traditional classroom setting by sparking students' interests and finding an innovative way to have students invest in their learning.
